"Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do." ~ Steve Jobs

Child Support; Learning Disabilities explained  A 2 hour information session is provided to a parent and child aged 8 or older who is diagnosed with a learning disability. This includes listening to a tape on learning disabilities and sharing of a book or an article on learning differences- The goal is for the child improve his or her self-esteem and confidence by discussing what it means to learn differently, what to expect from self and others and how to advocate with teachers to get appropriate support for the disability. A review of the psycho-educational test in plain language so the child understands his strengths and weaknesses, and ways to improve his skills will be included.  Cost is $150.00 and includes a pre-planning session with the parent.

Testing for Learning Disability or Giftedness:

If the child has not been diagnosed but there are signs for a learning disability, an achievement test on reading, writing and math can be administered. If a parent believes the child is gifted, a well known test the CogAT can be administered. It measures cognitive abilities and learning styles.
Cost $150-$200 includes a written report to the parent and discussion.
Please be aware that tests provided here may not necessarily be accepted by a school for program placement or designation. You many want to discuss this further with the child's school. The testing we have training for is called level B, which is not the same as that provided by a psychometrician. This is reflected in the cost that is charged which is about one tenth of the cost of a level A test. Our testing may not be covered under extended or provincial health plans.
